What's New at
West Valley Housing Authority

The affordable housing industry continues to evolve and change, and West Valley Housing Authority (WVHA) changes with it. In an effort to keep our clients as up to date on issues as possible, we have included a number of topics:

Breaking News

The Landlord Access Web Portal will allow landlords/property managers to view or print their current (and prior) statements, retrieve necessary documents, and check on the status of inspections. This can be done 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, right from your own office or home-anywhere you have Internet access.

As of July 16, 2018, we will NO LONGER be sending out statements, so we strongly encourage our partners to register here.

Although the State of Oregon has legalized marijuana, it is still classified as a Schedule I drug under the Federal Controlled Substance Act of 1970. Marijuana is still an illegal substance under Federal Law and WVHA properties are under the Federal Public Housing Program where marijuana use is not permitted at all. Accordingly, despite the change in Oregon law, nothing has changed regarding use of marijuana in our facilities by our tenants.

Do not engage in the use of marijuana on any of WVHA properties or you may be evicted!

WVHA properties are Federally‐funded Programs and marijuana use is still considered use of an illegal substance federally and not permitted. It has been previously determined that the Federal Laws in this situation trump the State Laws and WVHA will be following the Federal Laws for our Federally‐funded Programs.

Agency Wide Performance Evaluations

Every year, the US Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) evaluates both the Public Housing Program and the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program against federal standards (minimums) for both programs. As well, an Annual Independent Audit is conducted to evaluate the financial status of WVHA as well as confirming a number of HUD-set program standards.
